Reign beats champs, S2 draws, Shock splits

South Sound Shock FC lost its Evergreen Premier League Washington opener to the Vancouver Victory today at Harry Lang Field in Lakewood, 2-1. The Shock had opened the scoring with a goal from JJ Schmeck. assisted by Derek Johnson. The Shock hits the road next weekend -- but just a bit -- facing the Seattle Stars at French Field in Kent at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo's chances of facing Manchester City in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday were boosted as he returned to full training, having missed three consecutive games because of an injury to his right leg.
