Seattle Sounders FC concluded the week's training this morning at Starfire Sports in Tukwila and this afternoon flies down to LA for their 4 p.m. Sunday match with the Galaxy.
"We did a little more work yesterday than we normally do two days out, so we wanted to go easier today," coach Sigi Schmid said. "A little bit breezy out here as well. But we're ready to go down to LA and do the business.
On why the team chose to fly about 28 hours before first kick.
"LA, San Jose, Salt Lake, Colorado, we generally train and travel," Schmid said. "A couple of them, because of altitude, we want to get in there within 24 hours of kickoff. And with LA and San Jose we figure it's easier. If you travel in the morning, then you've got to find a place to train, you've got to get changed, you've got to get on the bus, you've got to get there. We just figure this is easier. ... We were debating with the 4 o'clock game we were debating if we should go down on Friday. For sure if it had been a 1 o'clock game we would have gone down on Friday."
