LAMAR NEAGLEOn his thoughts of the game:“Yeah, obviously we had our chances, unfortunately we didn’t finish them. I personally had three that I thought I could have done a lot better with so it is a frustrating game knowing that we played pretty well and were in control of the game in the beginning and then one free kick changes things. It was frustrating, it seemed like we were getting the bulk of the chances and not being able to finish, some of them were a little bit ridiculous, on our part, and on his part, [Jaime Penedo] had a great game.”
On what head coach Sigi Schmid said to him after the game:“Just that he thought I did a good job. He probably just wanted to change some things, get some fresh legs on the field up top.
Midfielder CRISTIAN ROLDANOn playing in front of his home town fans:“I heard a lot of boos, but also in between the boos I heard my family and my friends. It was good to have those fans, I know they were here just to support me and not the LA Galaxy so that is always a good feeling. It was a good start for us, I thought we created chances but result is not what we wanted, but that is soccer.”
On how he played tonight:“Towards the end, you get tired as a winger, but I thought my performance was okay. I thought I did well. You just got to learn from your mistakes you made in the game and keep making those same plays that we made, but I thought I did well. I think I have adjusted to the game, to the professional game pretty well and hopefully I continue to improve and look to contribute to the team as much as possible.
Never miss a local story.
Defender BRAD EVANSOn his thoughts of the game:“I think everybody is obviously very disappointed with the result but in saying that, I thought that was probably our best game this year. Sometimes soccer is that way. One chance for them in the first half with the header, a missed mark, and they will beat you that way. We adjusted a little bit, and I thought they didn’t have too many chances on set pieces after that, but we created enough to go 3-1 up in the first half and in the second half created even more chances. You try to hold it as tight as you can in the back and hopefully create more and more so if we continue to do that we will find ourselves on the right side of things.”
On the play of the younger Sounders players:“Phenomenal. I thought they [Dylan Remick and Cristian Roldan] were solid like they have been doing it for years. This is a good field to have your first game on. It is big, there is a lot of space and things tend to open up for you a little bit more, it is not a tight field like in Portland. It is definitely a good field to have one of your first games on, especially starting on that wing over there. I remember played a couple games here early on in my career and it was a good feeling. Cristian did well with it, really well, and connected his passes, was calm under pressure and I can’t say enough about him. But we have said that all along, this is a good team and we are going to need these guys, and everybody to step up. You never know when you are going to get called, but when you do, I thought it was a good performance.
