Seattle Sounders FC will open the upper deck of Qwest Field for its friendly against Chelsea, but it don't do so for any MLS games -- including the season-opener against New York.
"We will not do it for MLS games," said Gary Wright, vp in charge of Sounders business operations. "We will do it for big international games."
However, the Sounders will open a few extra sections of end zone to accommodate probably an extra 3,000 fans or so who want to attend that historic inaugural game. That should bring allow something over 27,000 fans to watch the Sounders' first MLS game.
Here's more on the Sounders home field, from today's paper.
