Sounders went through a single training session in Arizona today.
Here's the report from the club:
In today’s training session, the Sounders had their first taste of rain as they battled through a chilly downpour for a series of 10v10 games on a shortened field.
With the goals on the top of the 18-yard boxes, the team was split into three groups and played several short games of fast-paced soccer.
Never miss a local story.
One squad scored on consecutive possessions. First they got a nice cross from Josh Gardner to Sanna Nyassi at the far post, but Nyassi’s shot was defended and the rebound spilled to Roger Levesque for a one-touch goal. Not long after Freddie Ljungberg played a ball that Nyassi put away for the goal.
Steve Zakuani and Mike Fucito sat out with injuries and Terry Boss did some light work on the side.
The team only had one training session today as they prepare for a training game with the Vancouver Whitecaps Thursday morning (10:30 Pacific Time). You can catch the live-blog coverage of the game at www.soundersfc.com.
The team returns to Seattle on Thursday night before heading to La Manga, Spain, on Monday for the third leg of training camp.
That final part, of course, happens only if the MLS and players union agree on a new collective bargaining agreement by Friday ... or extend the deadline once again.
