Sounders FC announced today that it has waived goalkeeper Chris Eylander of Auburn and formerly of the USL Sounders.
Eylander, 26, made one MLS appearance last season, starting in a 2-0 loss to Chivas USA on April 18. He also played in a 4-1 U.S. Open Cup play-in victory over Real Salt Lake. He signed with Seattle on Jan. 6.
He's a bit of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say about roster compliance this morning before this move was announced:
“I was thinking about activating myself to play but I don’t think I’m fit enough yet. So we will have to wait on that one. I think we are fairly close. Obviously there are some discussions we need to have today with some people but we are pretty close. I think we might be a lot closer than some other people are.”
