Yes, it's early but ... but this weekend also brings a very big game.
After Los Angeles' win last night in Colorado, the Galaxy will arrive at Qwest Field on Saturday with a 10-point lead on Seattle in the MLS standings over the same number of games. That means LA could leave with a 13-point advantage ... or seven.
That's a big swing. And 13 would be a lot to overcome in a race to 49 points (or so ... that's the point total that won Supporters Shield for Columbus last season). Granted, there would still be the even more important race to the playoffs. And as Real Salt Lake showed last season, that's a workable route to MLS Cup.
But for other goals -- Supporters Shield, Western Conference championship, home-pitch advantage in the playoffs -- both things are true: Yes, it's still early. And yes, this is a big game.
