A couple of personnel updates this morning from Sounders coach Sigi Schmid.
On Blaise Nkufo's Sounders debut, which now apparently will not come in the July 15th game at D.C.:
I don’t know what the final date is, but it looks like he’ll come in the 12th-13th, somewhere around that time. So that’s probably not going to include him in the D.C. game, but then we’ll move forward from there.
We’ll see where he is, because we’re giving him this time as a break time. Even on his break time he’ll be doing some stuff – it’s not like he’s just going to sit around – but we want to get him around the ball. Maybe it’s the friendly (July 18, vs. Celtic), maybe is the game on the 25th (vs. Colorado Rapids).
When it locked up this time it was we have to go in arthoscopicly. The doctor went in and just removed that tear. He’s making good progress. He’s a little over a week out from surgery and we’re hoping that next week he’s going to be able to be more active, start touching the ball, and possibly by the 18th or the 25th there should be a chance.
