As part of my state-of-the-Sounders midseason interview, I asked general manager Adrian Hanauer why fans can believe the second half might be better.
"Getting our injured players back is certainly going to help," he said. "You saw the group Wednesday night, the energy they put in, the outstanding performances by a number of players: by Montano, Seamon, Zach Scott, Tyson Wahl did well, Roger Levesque did well, Sanna Nyassi. There were some very good performances, and those guys are going to earn minutes and that’s going to make us better, as well and provide energy that I think we’ve been missing."
It will be fascinating to see how many of those players show up in the Sounders' starting 11 today, or who come on in key reserve roles.
