The Crew currently lead by two points ahead of the Red Bulls having played one fewer game, but they make up their game-in-hand Wednesday at home against Kansas City.The teams have met once already this season, the Crew coming away from Red Bull Arena with a 3-1 victory on May 20. It was the Crew’s first win at New York since April 12, 2003, and the first road victory in the series since 2006.After going the first 13 games of the season without a tie, the Red Bulls have now played to a draw in two consecutive games.Unbeaten now in their last five, the Red Bulls are expected to make major headlines Thursday when they announce the signing of a second Designated Player (Juan Pablo Angel is the other). Real Salt Lake at FC Dallas, 5:30 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick package)Real Salt Lake recorded their fifth consecutive shutout in the 1-0 win Thursday at Chicago. RSL’s shutout streak is now at 498 minutes, the fourth-longest in MLS history. The LA Galaxy’s mark of 521 minutes, set in 2006, is next on the list; the all-time record is 727 minutes (Houston, 2007).Nick Rimando has been between the posts for the entirety of the streak; his personal 498-minute shutout skein is fifth-longest individually in MLS history.David Ferreira was the hero for FC Dallas for the third consecutive game. After scoring late penalty kicks to give FCD victories against Chivas USA and Kansas City, Ferreira’s fourth goal of the season provided a 1-1 draw at Seattle on Sunday evening.While Real extended their club-record unbeaten streak to 10 games, FC Dallas extended theirs to five games in the win at Seattle, and have lost just once in their last 11 games. Kansas City Wizards at Colorado Rapids, 6 p.m. (MLS Direct Kick package)The teams met twice in four days early in the year in Kansas City. The Wizards won 1-0 in league play on April 10, behind a 48th-minute goal from Kei Kamara, but the Rapids eliminated the Wizards from the U.S. Open Cup with a 2-1 win on April 13.The Rapids have lost four league games this season – all coming by 1-0 scorelines after Saturday’s loss at Toronto FC, which ended a six-game unbeaten run.The Wizards last won in Colorado on June 9, 2004, a 1-0 victory at Mile High Stadium. The Rapids have won four of the five home meetings since with one draw; Kansas City has never won at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
