Here's the Sounders FC injury update for the noon Sunday match with Celtic FC and beyond.
Sigi Schmid: “Keller won’t play tomorrow. We are going to try and let him have some rest. He said it felt much, much better today. So we don’t think it’s like what he had at the end of last year, so we feel good about that. Jaqua, it’s just a day-to-day thing but the likelihood of him playing tomorrow is small, if at all. But we do feel confident that Blaise (Nkufo) will give his debut tomorrow so it will be a nice day from that standpoint.”
Blaise Nkufo: "Tomorrow is a big game, and I want to play. I think I’m going to start and I’ll really enjoy to play finally and to make minutes to get back the feeling after the World Cup."
Kasey Keller: "I’m happy with what it’s done in the last 48 hours. I had an MRI yesterday and it just showed that it’s just a bad sprain, so once I kind of have that in my head that I know it’s nothing more than just pain there’s nothing wrong in there except for just a lot of inflammation, then the pain doesn’t bother me too much. It’s nice we don’t play until next weekend, so just take a couple of days and be back at training next week."
Nate Jaqua: "Just a slight slight hiccup. I’ll be back at training next week. A little bit (related to the previous injury). It’s just the abductor. I kind of slightly strained that. They’re just not that strong yet. A lot of minutes, and I just kind of tweaked it a little bit. I think worst-case scenario: Two weeks. Best case and I’m back playing this next week.
"I tweaked it a little bit in the Dallas game. I didn’t think it was going to be an issue, but trying to train ing D.C. it wouldn’t loosen up. It was just grabbing and the mobility wasn’t there as all. If it was a playoff game, I maybe could have forced to go through it, but I’m always worried about hurting it again. I didn’t think it was quite up to par to play."
