Here's the release from MLSsoccer.com.
FC Dallas forward Jeff Cunningham was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 19 of the 2010 MLS season. Cunningham scored two goals in Dallas’ 3-1 win against Philadelphia Union on Sunday, August 8, at Pizza Hut Park. With the game tied 1-1, Cunningham, a second half substitute, gave his team the lead in the 75th minute. After teammate Brek Shea sent a cross from the left side of the field toward the top of the six-yard box, Cunningham rose above the Philadelphia defense and nodded the ball inside the left post for the game-winner. Just six minutes later, Cunningham struck again. In the 81st minute, David Ferreira played a ball into the area for Cunningham, sprinting into the box. Cunningham placed his shot from the left corner of the six-yard box past goalkeeper Chris Seitz for his sixth goal of the year. Cunningham’s brace helped Dallas win their fourth consecutive home game as their unbeaten streak improved to nine games. This is Cunningham’s first Player of the Week honor in 2010 and the 14th of his career: 1999 – Week 8; 2002 – Week 20; 2004 – Week 11; 2005 – Week 12, 2006 – Week 7, Week 10, Week 18, Week 20; 2007 – Week 11, 2009 – Week 16, Week 20, Week 26, Week 30, 2010 – Week 19.
