"It was a long trip -- close to 20 hours back home," he said. "It was good to see my teammates back together. It's been a while -- we didn't play together since January. It was good being back home playing for my country. I didn't get to play, but I'm still hoping to get playing minutes.
On his brother's goal: It was a good game for my brother. At least I was there with him. Unfortunately I didn't get to play, but he had a good game.
On incorrect reports that credited the goal to Sanna rather than his brother: A friend of mine called me right after the game, and he told me, 'Oh, I'm watching the Sounders' game but they say that you scored a goal.' I told him, 'It wasn't me, it was my brother.'" It's all the same. I would have scored."
On finding out the New England -- Sainey's team -- had beaten the Sounders: Right after the game when we got back to the hotel after dinner I went downstairs to my brother's room. He was sharing the room with (New England teammate Kenny) Mansally. We were talking about the game and they were talking like "We're going to win this game." I was like, 'No you're not going to win this game, because it's going to be the same result like (the Sounder's 3-0 win in) Seattle. But later on when we woke up in the morning, I went to the website and saw (New England had won) 3-1, I was shocked."
Never miss a local story.
On still never having played against his brother: I know. I don't know when it's going to happen. I'm still looking forward to it. Maybe next year. I really want to get him. I can't wait to play against my twin brother.
On sleeping while traveling: Yeah, I slept the whole flight from here to New York. And from New York to Belgium, I think my brother woke me up to eat at least one meal, and then I went back to sleep."
Meanwhile, this from coach Sigi Schmid: “Generally, it’s a great honor for them. It’s a great reward, so it fills them with confidence, enthusiasm and so forth. I think Sanna still from the long trip is in a little bit of recovery mode but certainly I think it boosts his confidence level, for sure.”
