"Early in the process we had decided that our preference would be either to trade up or to trade down. There were five or six players that we really coveted in that top tier, and then below that we knew that there would be players available for us that we knew that we liked a lot in that 20 range. So it became quickly clear that we weren’t going to be able to trade up, so we began concentrating on trading down, which happened just as the draft started.
"We got allocation money, which is extremely valuable to us. With the swapped draft picks, what was so great for us was that we anticipated Tetteh being taken anywhere from nine to 13. And then when he was available at 20 we were very happy about that. Of the five players that we chose, when we put our mock draft together, the latest we had any of those players going was 25. So, for us the fact that we got five players that we really, really liked at the 20, 21, 27, 29 and 47 slots was, I’d use the word shocking. We were ecstatic.
"We were able to take care of our positional needs. We were able to get players that we rated highly at their positions. We were able to get kids that we have some familiarity with – some pretty significant familiarity with.
"So, for us it was a good day. You never know until preseason starts and they start kicking the ball around."
