MICHAEL TETTEH, midfielder from UC Santa Barbara"I played in college and we had a lot of fans. But coming here and playing in front of those fans, it just makes you want to work hard and play and kill yourself for those fans. Rain or shine they are out there chanting, screaming out loud and being there for us. I’m just very very excited and very humble and be a part of great tradition, a great club and have fun."
SERVANDO CARRASCO, defender from Cal:
"The fans are unbelievable. During that game we were down 2-0 and they keep yelling at you, which motivates you. What they do for us is amazing, it’s very amazing. We’re very very fortunate to have the best fans in the entire league. I’m looking forward to the entire year, and especially this first game at Qwest Field."
Never miss a local story.
That first game at Qwest will come Wednesday in the Community Shield game against the Colorado Rapids.
However, the first real Qwest experience -- the season-opener before a sellout crowd -- comes March 15 against the LA Galaxy.
