Here's some of what Sounders coach Sigi Schmid had to say after practice today, on the eve of their 7 p.m. Wednesday Community Shield match at Qwest Field against the Colorado Rockies.
Sigi SchmidOn Wednesday’s game) “It’s our final preparation game and it’s still a preparation game for the season. We weren’t happy with what we did this weekend so I think the guys are going to come out with a certain different mindset in regards to that and we as coaches have to be prepared and willing that, if it’s not working, we’ve got to make some changes and look at something different in the second half if it’s not working in the first half.”
On what he wants to see in tomorrow’s game) “Goals. Goals, goals and more goals. I would just like to see goals and like to see us play in the back to a shutout. If we play in the back to a shutout I’ll be happy with that and if we score some goals I’ll be happy with that as well.”
On Sanna Nyassi and Tyrone Marshall) “Obviously we would have loved to have kept Sanna and would loved to have held onto Tyrone. It didn’t work out, just the way things are in the league. We wish them the best. I’m sure a lot of guys are looking forward to seeing them because we haven’t seen them in a while. I’m sure they are looking forward to coming back to Seattle and playing in front of their fans.”
Never miss a local story.
On Mike Fucito) “A lot depends on how his recovery goes. It’s somewhere probably between three and six weeks so it depends how he responds.”
On Michael Seamon) “He’s feeling better. He’s getting better. We knew that was going to come along with rest a little bit so I think after Wednesday they are going to allow him to reenter training and then we’ll see if he has setbacks as he re-enters training.”
