The Sounders won’t play another league game until their July 30 match at Houston.
However, they’ll remain busy with Man U’s visit on Wednesday, and then a visit to San Francisco FC of Panama on July 26.
“I know our team is looking forward to (playing Man U),” coach Sigi Schmid said. “From a standpoint of where we go from there, there’s a CONCACAF play-in game in Panama. That’s something we take very seriously. Any competition we enter, we want to try and win. And then we have to go into Houston, which is a very tough place to play. We’re going into two places that are going to be very hot and very humid, so we have to make sure that we’re ready.”
The Sounders are off Sunday – freeing them to watch the USA meet Japan in the Women’s World Cup final.
“I might lay in bed and watch that one,” Schmid said. “I’ll definitely enjoy it. I told the guys to enjoy a nice day off.”
