The Sounders flew home today -- certainly a happier, quicker-seeming trip due to their amazing 2-1 come-from-behind-late win at Kansas City last night.
The club will return to training at Starfire on Monday, then take Tuesday off as they enjoy a rare one-game week ahead -- that one game being a 1 p.m. Saturday match against Chivas USA.
Coach Sigi Schmid admitted it was nice to get a weeklong break between games after and ahead of a steady diet of MLS games colliding with Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League... which resumes next week.
Never miss a local story.
"It’s great," Schmid said. "I told our guys, I said this is the last game again now in a hard period of time. And so we get a week and then we go into another tough stretch. And the team responded to that. So, being able to get a week off for some of those guys who got a lot of minutes is going to be tremendous. We don’t want to lose the rhythm, we don’t want to give them too much time off, but on the same token it gives us a chance to regenerate and get ready again."
