Sounders rookie Michael Tetteh will appear at Metro Parks Tacoma's Heidelberg Sports Complex from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The event is taking place during Metro Parks Tacoma’s “End of Summer Showdown” Challenge which starts at 2 p.m.
Tetteh's involvement will aid Metro Park's efforts to fight childhood obesity and motivate kids to eat healthy and stay active.
According to a Metro Park's press release:
The program has been a great success so far and anticipates serving forty thousand healthy meals by the program’s end date. To celebrate the program, Michael Tetteh from the Seattle Sounders will visit the Heidelberg Sports Complex to encourage and motivate the kids participating in the program. Tetteh will engage in recreational activities with the kids during Metro Parks Tacoma’s fun and physical “End of Summer Showdown” Challenge competition. Tetteh will be available for media interviews, as will spokespeople from Metro Parks Tacoma and Seattle-Tacoma Subway® Restaurants. Childhood obesity affects 17 percent of all children and adolescents in the United States. Metro Parks Tacoma is working to ensure that number is lowered in Tacoma, and to encourage communities around the nation to do the same.
