Someone -- OK, I -- asked coach Sigi Schmid if Henderson -- who is actually a year younger than Kasey Keller -- could still contribute a useful 10-15 minutes at the end of games.
After a few jokes that Chris doesn't need to hear, he gave this answer:
"I remember like when I was his age we went out and I remember we played a game, and it was a fairly serious game down in Mexico – in Guadalajara – we played against their staff and old-timers," Schmid said. "It felt great to play that day, and myself and a good friend of mine, we were playing and it felt great and it was like, ‘Man, this is like old times.’ And the next morning came, and it was like, “Oh … I can’t move.’ So to do it one time, it’s there. What happens as a professional player is you have to do it time and time again, and the same thing. Chris went out when he was still at a fairly good level and I don’t think he wants to go out any other way, so we won’t bring him back."
