Eddie Johnson participated fully in training for the third straight day this morning, and appears available to the Sounders for their CONCACAF quarterfinal tomorrow against Santos.
"Definitely," coach Sigi Schmid said. "He’s reacted well with everything. So we’ll make a decision as to how much he plays tomorrow."
Schmid added that there's a lot that will go into that decision.
"One is that this is a two-game series," he said. "We’ve also got the game away, so we want to make sure that he’s available to us in both games. We don’t want to maybe overextend ourselves in game one and maybe not have him available to us in game two. Game two on the road, a player with the experiences that he’s had playing overseas and playing with the national team, being able to maybe be in the starting lineup in game two is maybe more important than being in the starting lineup in game one just because of that. So you weight that factor into it as well. So that along with how is he physically, fitness wise, how many minutes can he give realistically. So you look at all those factors."
