Montreal coach Jesse Marsch said there wasn't a grand plan to stockpile former Sounders on his roster. However, he said there could be some benefit.
"You’d have to take them one-by-one, because that’s how we approached it: looking at each one of them and then the kind of player that they are and how we think they fit with our team," Marsch said after his team lost its first MLS game, 2-0, in Vancouver. "There is something to be said for being with a good club and playing in front of a big crowd. I think there’s potential for our club to have some similar kinds of environments. They’ve played in a lot of big games in front of big fans and everything else. So I think that’s a factor. But more than that, it’s how they fit with the team."
Former Sounders' Tyson Wahl, Sanna Nyassi, Mike Fucito and Miguel Montano all played in today's game. However, Lamar Neagle of Federal Way -- who went to Montreal with Fucito in exchange for Eddie Johnson -- didn't travel.
"He’s nursing a little something," Marsch said. "So it’s more about his health than anything else.
