Seattle Sounders FC has signed midfielder Andy Rose and Alex Caskey has transferred to Seattle from the USL Charleston Battery, the club announced today. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Caskey, 23, was selected by Seattle in the third round (47th overall) of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. He played for Charleston during the 2011 season where he scored one goal with one assist in 15 starts.
"Alex is more of an attacking midfielder than a defensive midfielder," said Sounders FC head coach Sigi Schmid. "He has very quick feet, and he is a player that works very hard but also has that nose for goal and looks to get forward."
Caskey was a three-time All-Southern Conference first team and two-time NSCAA All-South Region second team selection at Davidson, where he did not miss a match during his four-year career.

Rose, 22, was selected by Seattle in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft on January 17 following a trade with Real Salt Lake. The English midfielder was twice named All-Pac-12 First Team and team captain at UCLA.
"Andy is a midfielder who has very good vision, good striker of the ball," said Schmid. "His work rate is very good and he's got some size so he's good in the air. He can play in this league and make an impact."
Sounders FC visits Torreon, Mexico to face Santos Laguna in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals on March 14 before returning to Seattle for the MLS season opener on March 17 against Toronto FC.
