In Schmid's absence, top assistant Brian Schmetzer presided over the session.
"It was kind of a mixed group because the guys were two days out from the reserve game and Ezra had said that match was a hard game – a hard match – so they were a little sore, a little stiff," Schmetzer said. "And then the starters … always that first day after they’ve had a day off it’s a little rusty. It wasn’t quite as good as we would have liked. But then they got competitive down there when they played a small-sided game. Then it got competitive and quality was higher."
