The Sounders are three time zones away, so there's a little less news than usual for a gameday eve. However, I should be back with a few other items throughout the day. And meanwhile, he's a quick look ahead from the club:
The month of April kicks off with the first road test of the season as Seattle Sounders FC travels cross-country to the nation's capital to take on D.C. United. The match is slated for 4:30 p.m. PT at RFK Stadium.
Saturday's match will be televised live on KONG 6/16 with Ross Fletcher and Kasey Keller on the call, and can also be seen in Spanish on KOMO2 (Comcast channel 114). The match can also be heard on 97.3 KIRO FM and in Spanish on La Gran D 99.3 FM.
The road trip will be welcomed by Sounders FC, one of the league's strongest opponents away from home. The Rave Green has won its last five regular season road contests, dating to August 6, 2011, and Seattle was the best road team in MLS last season, scoring a league-high 24 away goals en route to a 9-3-5 record.
Seattle (2-1-0, 6 points) is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the 2012 campaign as a first-half penalty proved the difference in a 1-nil loss to San Jose last weekend. Sounders FC is currently fifth in the West but has played one fewer game than opponents. Sounders FC has won both meetings this year against the East, outscoring Toronto and Houston 5-1.
D.C. United (1-2-1, 4 points) is coming off its first win of the season, downing D.C. United 4-1 at home last Friday night. Maicon Santos netted a brace and an assist as the Red and Black broke out of a scoring slump to capture three points.
Sounders FC leads the all-time series with D.C. United at 4-2-1, with three wins coming at RFK Stadium. One of the most memorable nights in club history came in Washington, D.C., as Sounders FC won the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, 2-1.
The pace slows for Sounders FC in April as the club will play a season-low three matches. The lone home contest is April 14 against the Colorado Rapids before the team hits the road again for a date with the Chicago Fire on April 28.
