Sounders win it 1-0. Seattle moves to 4-1-1 and 10 points on the season. Rapids fall to 3-3 and remain at nine points.
The lone goal -- a Zach Scott header of an Alex Caskey corner kick -- came in the 64th minute.
Brian Mullan booed at every touch throughout. He also had a goal waved off for offside in the 33rd minute, and picked up a late yellow for sweeping the legs out from under Osvaldo Alonso.
He's supposed to take questions after the match, so I'll be back with that, in addition to the usual postgame notes and quotes from the Sounders.
Seattle now heads into a bye week before returning to action two weeks from today at Chicago.89th minute: Sweet Montero lofted shot just touched over bar by Pickens. Really nice work by each.
87th minute: Yellow card to Mullan for dumping Ozzie by sweeping legs out from under him. Montero has a few words for him. Yellow to Montero, follows.
79th minute: Montero gets under goalkeeper Pickens on high ball in box. Pickens slow to get up, and his teammates complain. However, Sounders fans seem to have low-tolerance for Rapids' rough-play complaints today.
74th minute: Sounders sub Burch in for Caskey. Nice hand for Caskey, who got his first MLS assist today.
70th minute: Rapids substitution: Hill for Castrillon.
66th minute: Sammy Ochoa in for Eddie Johnson.
63rd minute: GOAL Seattle. Caskey corner to near post where Scott heads it in. Sounders, 1-0.
61st minute: Nice Johnson-to-Montero-to-Alonso combination, but Ozzie takes too many touches and loses possession. Still, this is what passes for an offensive highlight today.
Crowd: Haven't heard the attendance figure yet, but fair blocks of open seats in lower upper deck and Hawks Nest.
50th minute: Caskey earns corner with a lot of hustle. Referee Baldomero Toledo allowing a lot of manhandling in the box on corners.
49th minute: Zach Scott issued yellow for spinning down Mullan.
47th minute: Yellow to Eddie Johnson.
Second half: ... is under way. No lineup changes.
Sounders six shots to Rapids three. Each put one on target. Rapids winning 51.7 percent of duels and lead in passing accuracy 76.2-72.3 and possession 60.2-39.8.
33rd minute: Disaster averted as Brian Mullan's apparent rebound goal is waved off for offside.
Through 30 minutes: Still scoreless. Montero, still goal-less in 2012, being very active and contributing in several phases.
21st minute: Scoreless. Caskey has tried to take defenders on twice and has been stripped both times. Eddie Johnson mostly a non-factor so far. Seattle has had the better chances, but the game is still finding its rhythm.
13th minute: Zack Scott receives free kick in front of goal, but sends header over the bar.
5th minute: Couple of Sounders chances miss. First, Ianni muscled down in penalty area, but no whistle. Then Montero gets past defense, bu goalkeeper Matt Pickens punched away his shot to the far side.
5th minute: Sounders corner taken by Caskey.
Mullan: He is being booed at every touch.
He's playing up top on the right side, where he could be guarded by Leo Gonzalez. I asked Gonzalez this week if it will be possible to approach Mullan as any other player.
"Personally I think it was a sad thing that happened, it was an unfortunate injury," he said, though a translator. "But I think even Zakuani at this point has accepted his apology and so I think it’s going to be a game just like any other one. We’re just going to concentrate on the game, and try to treat him like any other person."
First kick: We're under way. Rapids in maroon/white; Sounders in rave/blue.
Mullan booed: Big boo when Brian Mullan pops up on pregame video board introductions.
