Sigi Schmid's controversial Open Cup comments yesterday followed a question about the U.S. Open Cup's fifth round draw that would have the Sounders playing on the road at either San Jose or Minnesota -- if they advance past Cal FC tomorrow.
Today, general manager Adrian Hanauer said the club would at least consider trying to buy hosting rights, as they did from the Atlanta Silverbacks in the third round.
"We haven’t dug in on that very much at this point," he said. "We’re pretty focused on Cal FC tomorrow; don’t want to overlook them. But I’m sure it’s something that we will at least have conversations about internally, and then if internally we decide it’s something we want to pursue, I guess we’ll have conversations externally."
