Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said today that surgery on David Estrada's broken foot went well yesterday, and that he is hopeful that Estrada will be back on the early edge of the previous 8-12 week prognosis.
"Surgery went well," Schmid said after the club trained today in Montreal. "There we no complications in the surgery, and nothing unusual. It should be the regular timeline. My hope is still – based on him having down a similar type of injury to his other foot before – I think he’ll probably be on the earlier side of the timeline rather than the later."
Here's a release put out by the club later in the day:
Seattle Sounders FC announced today forward David Estrada underwent successful surgery on Thursday to fix a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot. Sounders FC has placed Estrada on the Disabled List. He is required to miss six MLS matches and will be eligible to return on July 15 at New York.
