The theme in the Sounders locker room tonight is that they can't wait for Wednesday.
After a 4-1 loss in Montreal that Zach Scott called embarrassing, every Sounder I spoke to volunteers that they're eager to turn things around Wednesday when Sporting Kansas City visits CenturyLink Field.
SCOTT: I’d like to say it’s as simple as one of those nights, maybe a little too much rust that we couldn’t shake off. But it’s frustrating. It’s not indicative of the team we are. To be frank, it’s embarrassing to lose like that. To be down a man and then start to play: That can’t happen. We have to go back to Seattle and figure it out. Fortunately it’s a short turnaround for our next game, and now it’s even more important.
GK BRYAN MEREDITH: I think after that first goal the mentality changed. Obviously it hurt when Hurtado went off with the red card call. I think all of that kind of put a fire under their (butts) a little bit. But we’ve got to come out from the opening whistle. A little bit slow start for us today. We’ve got to do a lot better on Wednesday.
FREDY MONTERO:I can’t change what we did today. There is another opportunity Wednesday against Kansas City. Hopefully we can do better. We need to have those three points.
Coach Sigi Schmid said his team had better feel that way.
"I think they (feel that way)," he said, "because otherwise I'd kill them in practice."
