DP Christian Tiffert made his Sounders debut tonight, playing the final 26 minutes.
His impressions on the game: "Very good atmosphere and a very good game. The team did it very well. The LA Galaxy, I think there was no chance to score a goal, and we create many. ... Every week it’s another game, another opponent. But today against a good team – the LA Galaxy – was fantastic.
And on his own performance: It was a good game for me. I’m from Germany (and jet-lagged) … it was not easy, but now for the moment it was OK.
And here was coach Sigi Schmid's early impression.
"I thought he was good. He was almost in in that one opportunity. You also saw him make some tackles in the back. It shows his two-way capabilities. But when you look at him with the ball – I haven’t seen the stats, but I’m not sure that he gave a ball away. He tried one through ball that he tried to chip through that might have been run down by the Galaxy instead of our team, but he’s going to help us. He can played simple, he combines. He plays simple. He’s the kind of guy that when you watch him it seems like just easy running, and all of a sudden – boom – he makes a move. It was like when he got in. It was like nice and simple, and then all of a sudden he was in behind them on a quick sprint and they didn’t know what to do with it. Luckily Saunders came up with the save."
