On that first pitch: I feel good because at least I put the ball in the catcher’s hand, you know? That’s all. … I was really nervous. It is always a weird feeling when you are doing something you don’t do often. At the end of the day it was really happy. It was a really good experience and a big honor for me to be part of the first pitch of the Mariners.
On "Felixing" after his goal vs. Vancouver: I was looking at Twitter, and one of the fans Tweeted me, ‘You should celebrate by Felixing.’ I tweeted him and say, ‘Oh that’s a good idea.’ After the goal and everything I remembered that and decided to do it.
On if he knows Felix Hernandez: I haven’t had the opportunity to meet him, but obviously I am supporting every single Seattle team. It doesn’t matter what team it is, and what sport it is. I know Felix Hernandez is a really good pitcher.
On watching the segment of the "MLS 36" NBCSN show featuring him: I don’t know. Always when I sit down with my wife to watch it, I can’t stay there. I just leave my sofa. I don’t know: It’s weird to watch myself on TV.On scoring off the bench vs. the Whitecaps: It is hard because you have to pay attention of how the team is doing on the field. … This time after five-six minutes I put the ball into the net. This is soccer.
On learning from the bench: I like to be focused on what the defensive is doing and try to find those spaces that they are leaving in the back. I was at the right spot. Jeff Parke gave me a good assist. I just tried to put the ball into the net.
On his season so far: It is a good season for the team. We are in the third position. We are always on the way to a playoff spot. Personally I feel that if I got good games and bad games, but always try to do the best for the team where I score goals or don’t have the opportunity to score.
On new teammate Mario Martinez: He’s kind of quiet. It’s normal because he’s coming (to a new situation) and he doesn’t know the language. We are trying to bring him into the group, because there are more people who speak Spanish, and he can improve his efforts to learn English as soon as possible – the basics that he needs to be onto the field.
