Portland can clinch the Cup with a win Saturday, and Wilkinson said a that may be his club's top remaining goal in a season where their playoff chances have become remote.
Here's his opening statement:
"It’s been a great week’s training. The Colorado result was something we got out of fairly quickly, and I think the players have worked extremely hard and have focused on Seattle. They know what’s at hand. They know the atmosphere is going to be incredible. They know the game itself is going to be an exciting one for the fans, and they know what is at stake for us."
He was asked if he could think of a game he ever wanted to win more, and said no."It’s an important game," he went on. "You look at the two organizations, and Seattle are a class organization with class people and doing well on the field. For us, there’s no doubt we have class fans, it’s a class organization and we need to repay them a little bit. For us the Cascadia Cup is very important, and this game itself is extremely, extremely important for the players, myself and everybody involved."
