Despite happiness over their 3-1 win over Dallas and avoiding any chance of the 4-5 elimination playoff game, the Sounders were disappointed to have turned over this season's Cascadia Cup to Portland -- the only Northwest team that didn't make the playoffs.
Here's some of their reaction.
Coach BRIAN SCHMETZER"We like to get trophies. We like to win as much as we can whenever we can."
Midfielder BRAD EVANS"Obviously that is important to everybody top to bottom, especially the fans. If we can't give them that then we need to give them something else."
Forward FREDY MONTERO“I think we did what we needed to do. We played two games at home, and we won those games, we tied a couple times away, so that’s all.”
Goalkeeper MICHAEL GSPURNING"Of course we wanted both: the Cascadia Cup and to avoid the game fourth against fifth. But now the situation is like this. In the end we tried everything to keep the Cascadia Cup here, but the result today in Vancouver wasn’t in our hands. The other result was in our hand."
