The Sounders lost to Los Angeles 1-0 tonight, and with the result finished third in the MLS Western Conference.
The result means Seattle and Real Salt Lake will open their two-game aggregate-score series Friday at CenturyLink Field, with the deciding match Nov. 8 at Rio Tinto in Sandy, Utah. Playoff tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday.
More concerning news for the Sounders was the first-half departure of leading goal-scorer Eddie Johnson with an apparent left hamstring injury.
Sounders end season 15-8-11, seventh overall in MLS.
