The Sounders have concluded training for the day ... and for their date with destiny tomorrow against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
"The mood is good," coach Sigi Schmid said. "It’s at the point where you just want to play, you just want to get it on. We know what we have to do, we know the hole that we’re in. It’s a chance to create a very historic moment for our club and for league history because we’ve built that kind of a hole. Either we do it or we don’t do it, but we feel confident in the chance that we can create chances and we can score goals. We’ve just got to finish the chances that we create and not give anything up."
Coach Sigi Schmid gave no particular update on the status of Mauro Rosales or Leo Gonzalez.
He said sloppy weather -- which is predicted -- could be useful in the Sounders' efforts to win by three or more goals. But he also said the Sounders simply have to produce regardless of weather or anything else. Anything less than making up that three-goal difference will be a defeat, he said.
Schmid also said the only acceptable outcome is making up those three goals.
“An acceptable performance is a win – a win meaning a 3-0 or more win, getting us into overtime or winning the series. A 1-0 Pyrric victory is not what we’re looking for.”
I'll be back with more direct quotes later in the day.
