The Sounders have announced that ticket sales have reach the 16,000 mark for their home match against Tigres on Tuesday, which will resolve the CONCACAC Champions League quarterfinal series.
Tigres took the opener at home last week, 1-0. The Sounders must make up that goal and perhaps more Tuesday in order to advance in the aggregate-score series which uses away goals at a tie-breaker.
"(Playin at home is) a great advantage for us," coach Sigi Schmid said. "We hope our fans turn out in big numbers. We have an opportunity here to advance to the semifinals, and again, like I said, it’s a very solvable equation. It’s no different that Santos coming home against us last year when they were a goal down, it’s no different from what Santos is facing this year with Houston where they went a goal down away from home. So it’s something that solvable. We know we can’t take any goals, but we just have to work hard and push."
