Michael Gspurning says the Sounders' first win brought out the sunshine.
And that was the main takeaway from training today at sunsplashed Tukwila. There wasn't much in the way of news, as the club trained for only about any hour in advance of a reserve league game at Starfire tomorrow, and with the next MLS game still two weekends away.
"It's nice to come off a win," coach Sigi Schmid said. "We've had some games where I thought we've played well and deserved to win -- like New England and so forth -- and you don't come out with a win -- Portland. But at the end of the day, we're happy to get a win and we've got to move forward from there, build from there."
Schmid on the health of this team:
Never miss a local story.
"(Marc) Burch just came today and had something going on, so we decided to hold him our. And with Djimi (Traore), he's trained hard the whole time, so we just want to ease off on him this week. He's a little bit older, so this also is a period of time where we want to train, get some things done, but it's also a time when we can get the older guys a little bit of a rest.
Schmid on Eddie Johnson, who was still out at Colorado, possibly playing in Reserve game: I don't know how he is. He trained today, so we'll see how he is tomorrow, and then we'll make a decision. I would think not, though.
