Seattle opened one of its three DP slots Thursday by announcing that midfielder Shalrie Joseph had signed a new contract that does no include the DP status of his previous one.
That move is the latest in a series of roster reductions that included the waiving of defender Ashani Fairclaugh on June 27 and the waiving of forward Sammy Ochoa on July 24.
The summer transfer windown closes Aug. 8: one week from today.
No Sounders spokesperson was immediately available to discuss the latest roster move, however, general manager Adrian Hanauer said this last week:
"We are actively pursuing a couple of different angles. But as you guys know by now, it will be done when it’s really done: signed, sealed and delivered."
