Sounders training has just concluded. I'll be back with quotes and more later, but for now, these three takeaways:
1.) Clint Dempsey trained for the first time. Afterward he was complimentary to his teammates and said he thinks he'll be ready for any role and duty Saturday that is assigned by coach Sigi Schmid. Schmid said he has an idea of the role he has in mind for his new DP, but wouldn't share it except to say Dempsey will be in the attacking third.
2.) Rookie/All-Star DeAndre Yedlin says he's OK with new No. 17 jersey in order for a player of Dempsey's stature to take No. 2. If he received any other compensation, he wasn't saying.
3.) Michael Gspurning, Marcus Hahnemann and Andrew Weber all trained and Schmid said he expects to have his pick amoung them for Saturday when the Sounders play at Toronto.
