Here's the news from the league:
LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for week 25 of the 2013 MLS season. Robbie Keane was in terrific form for the Galaxy as he completed his second MLS career hat trick in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the visiting, first-place Real Salt Lake. Keane scored his first goal of the night to level the match 1-1 in the 56th minute. Juninho sent a ball to the top of the box where Keane collected it, turned and juked his defender to the right before clinically slotting the ball just inside the right post. In the 67th minute Keane added another to put the Galaxy ahead 2-1. Sean Franklin delivered a low, hard-driven cross to Keane, who volleyed home his second goal of the night.
His final goal came in the 86th minute when Franklin played a ball over the Real Salt Lake defense to Keane, who chipped goalkeeper Nick Rimando to complete the hat trick. The LA Galaxy are back in action tomorrow, August 20 when they host the Costa Rican side Cartaginés in the CONCACAF Champions League (10:00 p.m. ET). They continue MLS play Saturday, August 24 when they travel to face the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place (9:00 p.m. ET, TSN2, RDS). The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
