Stanford University-Stanford matched up with Loyola Marymount, advancing 3-2 on penalties after the two held to a 1-1 draw through two overtimes. Stanford went down 1-0 in the 82nd minute came back to equalize in the 89th and held the score till penalties. Sounders U-23 product, Aaron Kovar’s best chance came on a cross he sent in to Koval in the 19th minute but was stopped by LMU’s goalkeeper. He also added one shot and put it on goal but failed to knock home a penalty attempt in the shootout. Jordan Morris took 3 shots putting 1 on target before he hit home a penalty to make it 2-1 on penalties for the Cardinal. Stanford advances to play 15th seed Cal State Northridge on Sunday.

Seattle University-Seattle U pulled off the upset of the first round, beating Creighton 2-1 in the first round. After going down 1-0 early the Redhawks and Sounders attacker, Miguel Gonzalez, scored in the 30th and 72nd minutes to give Seattle a 2-1 advantage. Gonzalez took 3 shots putting all of them on goal with two of those being the game-tying and game-winning goals for the Redhawks. Sounders’ Chase Hanson made a substitute appearance and played well. The Redhawks now face University of Washington in the second round Sunday in a battle for Seattle.

East Tennessee State-East Tenn. State played Coastal Carolina in the first round losing 2-0 on the road. East Tenn. State held Coastal Carolina to only five shots on goal but it was too much for the Buccaneers. Sounders U-23 forward, who came back from a broken foot this season, David Geno, made a late substitute appearance for the Buccaneers. Coastal Carolina advances to play 13th seed Charlotte in the second round on Sunday.

University of Denver-University of Denver bowed out to Louisville in first round on penalties, 3-2. Denver held Louisville to a scoreless draw in Louisville but couldn’t hold on in the shootout. Sounder Jordan Schweitzer saw yellow in the 86th minute. Louisville advances to play 11th seed Michigan State on Sunday in the second round.

UCLA-The #1 seed UCLA Bruins sat idle with a first round bye. Their next opponent is Elon University who advanced past Clemson on penalties in the 1st round. Sounders Earl Edwards and Max Estrada suit up for Bruins on Sunday in the 2nd round.
University of Washington-The #2 seed Huskies sat idle with a first round bye. They watched Seattle U pull a major upset against Creighton. Sounders U-23 players; Michael Gallagher, Michael Harris, Darwin Jones, and Ian Lange wait for their chance to take on Seattle U on Sunday and take on their teammates Miguel Gonzalez and Chase Hanson.
Wake Forrest University-The #14 seed Demon Deacons sat idle with a first round bye as Navy defeated VCU 3-0 in the 1st round. Sounder Sean Okoli will suit up for Wake against Navy in the second round on Sunday.
