Coach Sigi Schmid hinted at it yesterday, and at noon today it became official: The Sounders have traded midfielder Alex Caskey to D.C. United in exchange for a 2016 draft pick.
Here's what coach Sigi Schmid had to say about the deal:
"Obviously it was very competititve with our team," he said. "Alex has done really well for us. In the two years here he’s been an important player, and I like Alex, but the opportunity came along where there was interest from D.C. We were going to have to make some decisions to cut somebody or waive somebody, and so for him it’s a good opportunity and for us it gives us a draft pick down the line. Alex has done well for us and we wish him all the best."
