Here's some more Sounders reaction after their 4-4 draw at Portland today:
Forward OBAFEMI MARTINS:It was a good game. I’m glad my boy scored a hat trick. We just need to try not to concede some easy goals, try to keep a clean sheet and all that and win games.
When you really want to score goals, you can score a lot of goals and you forget to defend sometimes. I think it’s an entertaining game. We just need to win games. The season is early right now. We need to train to score more goals and not concede.
I’ll say both. I’m just trying to help my teammates and trying to score goals. If the goals don’t come, it’s better to help your team. I’m glad today. I’m glad we did well.
Never miss a local story.
It’s what we do even in training. We love playing each other, trying to connect, trying to play well because that’s the chance we have up front. It happens that we did well today and I set him up a couple times and he tried to set me up. He gave me assists as well, but I didn’t score. This is just the beginning. I hope we’ll play well and play a lot of games together. Defender CHAD MARSHALLGeneral thoughts on the game:“I’m frustrated right now for sure. Definitely going to get back this week and look at video and look at how we can improve because we can’t give up four goals a game.”
On the Timbers performance:“They’re a good team. They’re always going to get up for this game. When they’re feeling it, they’re very good offensively. You saw that. They punished us on our mistakes. I can’t wait for the next one.”
On defending against an interchanging offense:“It’s a challenge. Like I said, they have good players. They interchange well, which is what makes them good. Guys from the back will come to the front. They’ll make late runs so you always have to be aware and accountable at all times or else they’ll punish you like they did today.”
Forward KENNY COOPEROn his goal:“Well any goal is valuable and there were a lot of them today. The boys did so great to fight back to the very end. It even looked like we maybe could have won it. I think we can take a lot of confidence from this game and look to push forward in a really positive way.”
