Here's a game report from the club:
SANDY, Utah - Seattle Sounders FC (2-0-2) remained unbeaten in the MLS Reserve League after playing to a scoreless draw at Real Salt Lake (1-0-2) on Monday afternoon at America First Field. The defenses dominated Monday's game, with neither side able to produce much in front of net. Seattle saw a great look in the sixth minute when Sean Okoli blasted a shot from the top of the box that forced RSL keeper Lalo Fernandez to make a diving save. Fernandez was unable to hold onto the ball and Cam Weaver was there for the rebound that sailed over the crossbar. Real Salt Lake's best chance in the first half came in the 44th minute when Sebastian Saucedo was tripped just outside the area earning a free kick. Abdoulie Mansally stepped up to take the kick and blasted a shot that bypassed Seattle's defensive wall but went straight to Sounders goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann. Salt Lake started the second half brightly, with Saucedo registering a chance in the 47th minute. Mansally sent a cross into the box from the left side but Saucedo was unable to sneak his volleyed shot past Seattle substitute keeper Josh Ford. Seattle saw two opportunities slip by in the 70th and 80th minutes. Micheal Azira sent a rocket from the top of the box but the shot flew over the crossbar. Okoli had the next chance 10 minutes later, volleying a shot from 20 yards out, but RSL's Fernandez was there to easily collect the ball. RSL saw its last chance of the match in the 81st minute when Saucedo was fouled outside the penalty area. Saucedo had eyes for goal and curved a nicely hit ball just high over the crossbar. Sounders FC Reserve League play resumes on Sunday at home against the LA Galaxy II. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. PT at Starfire Stadium.
