Here's the news from the league:
Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 13 of the 2014 MLS season.
Brown scored two goals before halftime in the Rapids 3-0 over the Houston Dynamo Sunday night.
Brown’s first goal came only five minutes into the match when a perfectly placed cross from Rapids defender Marvell Wynne found Brown in the middle of the box. Brown connected with the cross and headed the ball past the diving Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall.
Never miss a local story.
In the 35th minute, Brown completed the brace when Dillon Powers found Brown making a run behind the Dynamo defense. Brown ran onto the pass in the right corner of the box, and one-timed a shot into the lower left corner.
The Rapids have two fixtures this week, with the first at home on Wednesday, June 4th against Chicago Fire (9 p.m. ET).
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
