The late start didn't allow for much time in the Sounders locker room tonight, so there's less reaction than usual. However, here's some of what a couple of players had to say about their 1-0 loss to San Jose at Levi's Stadium:
DEFENDER DEANDRE YEDLINOn game: “I thought we started out a little bit slow in the first half, especially me. I feel like we came back stronger in the second half, just unfortunate not to get a goal.”
On transition back to MLS:“I didn’t play a 90 minute game in Brazil, so getting back to full-game fitness has been a little tough. I haven’t really had much of a break, so that’s been tough, but I’m young so it should come along soon.”
MIDFIELDER BRAD EVANSOn chances:“I wasn’t on the field last week, but I felt as though we created a lot more chances on our end. Our forwards were moving their defenders out of position and we got some guys in behind, but we just couldn’t get that last pass to complete the comeback.”
Never miss a local story.
On team moral:“There is definitely some positive stuff we can take away from tonight. Each loss can feel different. Sometimes you can get a win and feel like you stole it, but this loss feels like we obviously progressed from last game and this next game becomes a must-win for us at home.” On avoiding the kind of late-season swoon the team had last season:I’ve always felt confident in this team and I’ll continue to feel confident in this team. I think what we did tonight … was one misplay and that it, and in this league that can change a game. That’s a testament to this league.
