Clint Dempsey watched from the bench for the first 70 minutes tonight before coming on for the final 20 minutes of the Sounders' 1-1 draw with San Jose.
He was asked about how he's feeling.
"I’m feeling tired," he said. "I’ve been going non-stop since December, really. So that’s why I was rested today, just trying to get my legs back under me and try to feel a little bit energized. Hopefully we can figure out a way to manage that and get back to feeling good again."
On if 20 minutes served as rest: It’s rest. Ninety minutes takes a lot out of you. … Games on turf take a lot out of you. Games – period – take a lot out of you, but especially on turf. Just trying to manage that load so I can be fresh, get my legs back and have a strong run to the end of the season.
