The Sounders have concluded Thursday training for their Friday night home match against Real Salt Lake.
Seattle goes into the match one point up on second-place LA in the West, and five up on RSL.
Here's some of what coach Sigi Schmid had to say:
On his team's mentality: "Good. The guys know what the game means. You don’t have to tell them what’s at stake in this one. Salt Lake games with us, they’re always highly competitive. We’ll be prepared."
Never miss a local story.
On LA's draw at Montreal: You look at it and obviously Montreal had a 2-0 lead, and LA came back showing the quality team they are. It’s just a matter of us continuing to do what we do. We’re in control of our own destiny as long as we get the points that we need in the games that we need them in, we’ll be OK.
On Marco Pappa's two more goals in the Central American Cup: It’s fantastic for him. Guatemala is at the stage where for years Carlos Ruiz was the one who carried the mantle for that team. Carlos now is getting a little bit older, and it’s great to see Marcos step up into that void. Carlos is still there, but Marcos has played a real dominant role for them in this tournament so far in putting them into the final game against Costa Rica with an automatic spot in 2016 Copa is certainly big for Guatemala.
