"I’m just excited to get down there, see the country, get training in and get to the game," he said.
On his form since the MLS Reserve Game during All-Star week: I think my last few weeks have been a lot more consistent. I’ve been playing a lot better. We had the reserve game, and I thought I did well, so I just built off that. I’m glad to see I got called in so I can just keep on improving.
On confidence gained from the call: It’s nice. I really just see it as tool for me to get better moving forward. I know the tournament is not for a couple of years, so I’m just making sure I’m ready for qualifying when that comes around.
On his reaction when the call came: I was happy. I haven’t been to Brazil before, so it will be nice to play out there. It’s one of the greatest countries in the world when it comes to football, so I’m excited.
Never miss a local story.
We also spoke to coach Sigi Schmid...
About the call ins: It’s good. Obviously they’re looking at our players. He was in our camp before: did well enough to get called back in, so it’s a good opportunity for him.
On Okoli getting time with Seattle's first team: He’s been working hard, and we had an opportunity to get him into the game a little bit, so you’re always trying to keep guys motivated and rewarding them. But eventually it the reason that a second team is always going to be important to us.
On Morris' potential future with the club: Obviously that’s in Jordan’s hands as to what he wants to do. He’s one of our Academy kids, and he’s always come back here in the summers and trained with us, so we have a good relationship with him. He’s been playing well, so at some point he’s going to have to decide which is the way to go.
