The Sounders announced today that their first home playoff game will be played Nov. 10 at CenturyLink Field. That's a Monday, the day after the Seattle Seahawks play host to the New York Giants.
"Just to make sure that the field doesn’t have football lines on it," coach Sigi Schmid explained of the non-weekend opener. "We wanted to be in a situation where we could play on a clean field. If we played earlier, if we played in advance of (the Seahawks-Giants) game, that might not have been possible. So this way, they can get the lines off after the Seahawks game, and we’ll be able to play on a clean field."
